Although the job outlook for 2009 graduates looks bleak, elite employers will continue to seek out the best and the brightest in many majors

The Top 100 Employers of the Class of '09 is an elite group of employers who, in spite of the economic meltdown, have maintained their on-campus recruiting programs. While their numbers of projected hires is down substantially (-42 percent) from the 2009 projections, the employers on the list are still hiring for full-time and internship opportunities.

The survey was conducted during November and December of 2008, and included major employers who historically recruit on college campuses for entry-level positions. The employers were asked to provide their projected number of entry-level hires at the Bachelor's and Master's degree levels and the number of campuses they recruit on. They were also asked to list the majors they are recruiting. The compiled data resulted in the Top 100 Employers of the Class of '09.

While the job outlook for the Class of '09 looks bleak, you can use the list as your guide to employers who are still actively recruiting. You can determine from the Top Employers by Major list which employers are recruiting in your field of study and explore their current entry-level opportunities.

The employers on the Top 100 Employers list represent "employers of choice" who value diversity and are economically strong companies who seek fresh, young talent to maintain their competitiveness in their industry.
